  • SRMEC hosts grant applicant training webinar for 2019 RFA

    SRMEC held an online training to provide details for applicants interested in responding to the 2019 request for applications (RFA).  The webinar provdes details on the Extension Risk Management education program, the Southern region's current prioritites, and details on budget preparation.  Proposals are due within the RVS system November 15th at 5:00 p.m. CST.   • SRMEC collaborates on National Direct Agricultural Marketing Summit

    The Southern Risk Management Education Center helped host the 2018 National Direct Agricultural Marketing Summit in Arlington, VA September 15-18, 2018. The United States Department of Agriculture, Farm Credit Council, Farmers Market Coalition, Food Distribution Research Society and National Value Added Conference collaborated to offer the 2018 National Direct Agricultural Marketing Summit. Dr. Ron Rainey, SRMEC Director, served as Co-chair of the Summit planning committee.

    The Summit's goal was to improve the capacity and performance of farms and businesses that participate in direct to consumer agricultural markets. The Summit featured new resources to assist market managers and direct marketing farmers, as well as research and data on direct to consumer markets. Four hundred Summit attendees from forty-three states participated in the 3-day event. Attendees included researchers, extension specialists, entrepreneurs, service providers, farmers, mission-focused investors, business operators, community practitioners, students, consultants, and government employees from state and federal agencies.

  • SRMEC Advisory Council selects 2018 Projects of Excellence

    SRMEC seeks to promote the ERME program and its funded projects by annually selecting the top three performing projects. The projects of excellence are selected by our advisory council from the previous round of completed projects. All projects are evaluated across three criteria:  1) project relevance and impacts, 2) materials developed and communication, and 3) evaluation & success stories.  Click the following hyperlink to view the reports and resources resulting from all  2016 SRMEC projects.

    2018 Southern Outlook Conference

    The Southern Extension Economics Committee annually convenes an outlook conference updating the status of the agricultural sector across the southern region.  The three-day conference is held in Atlanta, Georgia each year.  The conference provides an industry situation and outlook analysis for each agricultural commodity as well as addressing emerging issues.  To view presentations from the 2018 conference, visit the conference link below:
