  • SRMEC Advisory Council selects 2017 Projects of Excellence

    SRMEC seeks to promote the ERME program and its funded projects by annually selecting the top three performing projects. The projects of excellence are selected by our advisory council from the previous round of completed projects. All projects are evaluated across three criteria:  1) project relevance and impacts, 2) materials developed and communication, and 3) evaluation & success stories.

     

    Congratulations to this year’s winners, the 2017 selected projects are:

    • Risk Management and Economic Thresholds for Treating the Sugarcane Aphid on Sorghum – An Excel Tool directed by Texas A&M AgriLife Research and Extension Center

    • Developing Marketing Plans and Strategies for Historically Underserved Producers in Mississippi StrikeForce Counties directed by National Crop Insurance Services

    • Southern Agricultural Lease Education Program directed by Texas A&M AgriLife Research and Extension Center

    2017 Southern Outlook Conference

    The Southern Extension Economics Committee annually convenes an outlook conference updating the status of the agricultural sector across the southern region.  The three-day conference is held in Atlanta, Georgia each year.  The conference provides an industry situation and outlook analysis for each agricultural commodity as well as addressing emerging issues.  To view presentations from the 2017 conference, visit the conference link below:

  • 2018 National Direct Agricultural Marketing Summit

    SRMEC collaborates to support upcoming 2018 National Direct Agriculture Marketing Summit.  The summit will be held in Arlington, Virginia September 15-18, 2018.  The goal of the summit is to improve understanding, capacity and performance of farms and businesses that participate in direct to consumer markets. Summit will feature new resources—intended to assist farmers, market managers and direct marketing farmers—as well as research and data on direct to consumer markets.
