Dr. Rainey’s extension program areas focus on risk management and business planning of horticultural firms with emphasis on marketing. In addition to directing SRMEC, Dr. Rainey is project director for Arkansas MarketMaker project and is active with MarketMaker’s national leadership team serving on its national board of directors. MarketMaker is an online marketing resource linking all the players of the food systems from producers to consumers. Dr. Rainey spends significant time enhancing Arkansas direct marketing systems through work with MarketMaker and resources to develop farmers’ markets and other marketing opportunities for Arkansas farmers. He also provides leadership in rural entrepreneurship serving as Program Director of the Center for Agriculture and Rural Sustainability for the University of Arkansas.
Fields’ earned her MBA from Alabama A&M University. Her experience with University of Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service spans over 5 years. Before serving as the Center’s Financial Manager, Fields’ was the Program Coordinator for Arkansas’ 4-H Afterschool Program. As the Center’s Grants/Financial Manager, she is responsible for administering grants and other financial aspects for the Center.
McMinn grew up in a small row crop community in Southeast Arkansas. His degrees earned from the University of Arkansas include a B.S. in Agricultural Business (marketing concentration) and a M.S. in International Agricultural Economics. Since graduation, he has worked in many different areas of agriculture industry prior to joining the University of Arkansas (SRMEC). His experience includes work as a GPS consultant for an agricultural equipment firm for over four years. He has devoted most of his life to agriculture and plans to continue that path for many years to come.
